Exercise and Eating While Traveling

No matter what I do, I just can not get the pieces of a healthy diet and exercise to fit together while I am traveling. This is an area of concern considering I would eventually like to work on a tour. If I can't handle it when I am traveling with my own plans, how would I handle it while on a tour?

So for dinner Tuesday night it was In N Out. Lunch on Wednesday was relatively healthy at the, but my sandwich was twice a normal size sandwich I would eat and I ate the whole damn thing. Oh and there was that huge piece of pumpkin pie I ate with fresh whipped cream. Tuesday night was the cocktail reception or my liquid dinner. I sort of forgot to eat and ended up drinking a little too much.

Thursday no breakfast, but lots of water. Buffet lunch with not so many healthy options, but I managed to keep my portions small. Oh and I had a massive piece of cheesecake for dessert. Dinner at a favorite place of mine and it wasn't too bad, but I did have spinach dip and a beer. singular. At least it wasn't multiple.

Friday I slept in. I had a lunch of chicken salad (with lots of mayo and so good!) and a piece of this banana bread cake thing with a cream cheese frosting. It was ok. It looked much better than it tasted and I didn't eat it all. Dinner was just sort of weird because of the schedule. I had 6 beers total over the course of 6 hours or so and again the food was appetizer fare which is just awkward to eat at this type of event. I had 2 potato things with chicken. When I got back to the hotel had about 1/3 of a cheese burger, some fries and 2 rolls with butter. Um yeah. Fruits and Veggies I miss you. A lot.

I am telling myself my one saving grace is that the host hotel was booked and I had to walk about 2 blocks to the hotel and back each day. The only form of exercise I got my entire trip. So much for the workout clothes I packed and the fitness center on the second floor of my hotel. There is always next time.

Excuses

Excuses. We all make them. A lot of mine are centered around food or the gym. Excuses for why I should eat something (it was a rough day, I had a good work out...). Excuses for why I shoudn't eat something (I already had one, I don't need to eat late...). Excuse for why I need to exercise (I ate too much, I didn't go yesterday...). Excuse for why I don't need to exercise (I am too tired, there isn't enough time...). Some excuses (or reasons) seem valid, so not so much. Whatever is going on, I just need to get my butt in gear and eat right and go to the gym. No questions about it. However it isn't always that easy. Tonight I made dinner with my little sistah. I didn't take her home until almost 8. I also wanted to go to the gym tonight. My gym closes at 10, so that would be more than enough time to go to the gym, but also pushing it. I also wanted to register for boot camp class before I left for LA so there would be no way I could skip out come Monday February 5th. I also need to pack for my trip and as I was sitting on the couch after dinner it was just so comfy. In the end I made it to the gym and I am so glad I did! My schedule will be crazy for the next couple of days. With traveling and the conference I really am going to have to work hard at eating well and some exercise. Oh and I am going Disneyland on Saturday!!!! So in the end I am really glad I didn't let excuses get the best of me even though I still need to pack.

What are some of your excuses and what do you do to talk yourself out of them?
