Boot Core Day 9

Today was my favorite day of class yet. We started with a 1/2 mile run around the track. It was a nice cool overcast morning. We had 5 stations and we only made it about 2.5 time through. We spent about 3 minutes at each station. The first station was a step and we did these jump things over it and would have sprints to the left and right. The next station was a series of cones which we shuffled, skipped, squated, sprinted through in various parents. After that station I was pretty drenched. Then we went into the building and we used a weight machine and gripped the handle in one arm while in a lunge and had a 3-5 lb ball in the other hand. Our arms were spread out at our shoulders and we would cross the ball over the other hand. Then switch sides. Let me tell you. This.was.painful. It was crazy. My thighs were burning. My shoulders were burning and the 3 minutes couldn't end fast enough. The next station was the spin bike. The final station was with the medicine ball. We threw in on the ground as hard as we could. repeat.

We finished with various types of crunches and stretches. I hit the stairmaster for another 45 minutes and stretching.

Last night I had dinner at Ruth's Chris. I totally overdid it, but I am ok with that. It's not every day I get to eat at a place like that, so I enjoyed it. LOTS of warm French bread and butter. Shrimp cocktail. Cesar salad, Fillet Mignon, Lyonnaise potatoes, asparagus. There were 3 of us and we split the chocolate sin cake and the warm apple tart. I preferred the apple tart. Leftover filet, potatoes, and asparagus. I got home and I was completely stuffed and tired. I forced myself to stay up. At what point I found myself wanting a snack, but I knew I was still stuffed. I didn't eat anything and went to bed.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Scone Overload

As I was driving home from the gym this morning I was day dreaming of scones, but I really didn't want or need to stop and buy one. Plus it was 6:30 AM in the morning and the store wasn't open yet. So when i get in to work I was notified that there were leftover blueberry and raspberry white chocolate scones. Now these scones are one of my favorite baked goodies our catering department makes. They are always super moist and just downright yummy. Sometimes they put a pat of butter in them when they are baking and oh.my.god. So yeah I kid you not I had about 6 or 7 of them. I just couldn't stop. I wish I would have stopped at 1, but I had zero will power. The rest of the morning I was really lethargic. I ate part of my lunch and than slept for 30 minutes. At least my stomach is no longer hurting. I won't be binging on scones anytime soon. I feel like poo.

Boot Core Day 8

One of the trainers saw me at the gym yesterday morning. He seemed quite impressed that I was there on a day when I technically did not have to be there. I was on the arc trainer and he asked me how I was liking class. I told him I liked it a lot now that I am not longer sore. He said, "just wait until tomorrow when we do weights." Ugh. Well today wasn't too bad. We had 3 stations that we rotated through and alternated with cardio. The first station was dumbell presses on a stability ball and then sprints on the field. Next we did standing shoulder presses w/ variations. Cardio was jumping rope. Apparently I can jump rope pretty well and I was the envy of my trainer and the group. Who would have thought? Next station was lunge tricep kickback thing followed by squats and kicks. We did each station and cardio for about 3 minutes twice through. We finished off we a run down the street past the whole foods, Pei Wei, and Zoe's and up a flight of stairs and back to the Y.

After class I went to the gym where I was high fived by one of the trainers when I was walking in. As I was getting on the stairmaster the trainer from yesterday seemed really impressed that I came in for more cardio. If he only knew what I have been doing for the past 5 years... So yeah, I am starting to really like my new Y. In case you haven't noticed relationships are huge for me. I feel most comfortable when people know me.

I know I have a pretty crazy workout routine. But what about you? When do you workout? Where? Any favorite cardio routines or videos?

Starting to Get It

I feel like I am finally starting to get it. By it, I mean this whole exercise/eating well/balance thing. I am back on a schedule of exercising early in the morning and I love it! I can really tell a difference in my muscle tone and overall shape. My clothes are fitting better and my ring is lose. All of this was done without really limiting my intake of food. Sure, I eat my oatmeal and fruit for breakfast most mornings and *try* to pack my lunch, during the week, but I am still making smart choices when I go out. And I have also been pretty good about my portion sizes. The biggest thing for me is I haven't had to write down or type every single morsel I eat. While journaling kept me accountable when I first started, I found that if I do it now it pretty much consumes all of my thoughts and I didn't like it. So for right now I am happy where I am.

Dinner at *My Bar*

I know I have gone on and on about how much I love my bar, but I really do. Tonight, I met up with a few friends to celebrate one of the completion of their MBA. We were supposed to meet at 6, but I was running a little late and didn't get there until 6:15. As soon as I walk in all the bartenders and manager greet me like an old friend. At the bar while we were waiting for another friend to show up I polished off 2 jack and diane's. Then we got a table for dinner. Of course we ordered the house made potato chips (I think I can do without these next time). I really had a problem deciding what I wanted. I ended up with the field greens salad w/ chicken, pear, candied walnuts, and a little blue cheese with the raspberry dressing on the side. I had a few bites of a friend's tortellini (it wasn't that good, I don't know what I had more than one bite) and some french fries. I also ordered dessert and I rarely do if I have eaten a large dinner. But I couldn't pass up a strawberry rhubarb crepe. Have I mention I love rhubarb? Because rhubarb pie is one of my favorites, is not favorite pies. Ok, It is my favorite. It is not a common thing to see on a menu, plus it was a special. I am so glad I ordered it, because it was SUPER yummy. I almost just want to go back this week, just so I can order the dessert.

I also had a great time with my friends. I don't think I have laughed that much in a while. I looked and felt good and had an awesome time!

Boot Core Day 7

Oh yeah! I am half way finished with the month. Today we warmed up with a few laps around the track. Then we did these jump things where we jumped from what foot to the other and sort of looked like speed skaters. Next we used the resistance bands and did side steps with each leg. Next we did squats with a dumbbell. Then we ran. We ran a lot and up a hill too. Finally we did a running/squat exercise with a partner where a resistance band is around your waist and your partner holds the handles to make it to there is even MORE resistance! Fun Stuff. Rinse and repeat. Finish off with suicides and stretching. Oh and we did some pushups at some point. After it all I went to the gym and stair stepped away for 30 minutes, walked on the treadmill for 15, and stretched/ab work for another 15 minutes.

On the scale today I was at 197. Finally the scale is moving in the right direction. While I would love for it to be even lower than that I can recognize the increase muscle tone in my legs, arms, and abs. It's quite awesome actually.

My bridesmaid dress for the wedding I am in in August is being sent to me. I hope that bad boy fits. I would even love to have it taken in. How awesome would that be?!?

I booked my flight to NYC using frequent flyer miles and saved myself $500+. Thank god for those bad boys. I am SO excited to see JM with my mom over 4th of July weekend and then just a few days later in NYC!
